JMC Academy Showcase Excursion :)

Today we went to the JMC Academy Showcase at the Seymour Centre, Chippendale. JMC put on a performance that advertised their academy, appealing to potential students in the next coming years. When arriving at the Seymour Centre and entering into the foyer we were greeted by enthusiastic current students and the heads of each department. A current student was doubled as the foyer’s DJ and played music that would engage a young audience.

At 12pm we entered the Everest Theatre, along with 5 lots of other school students and other interested parties. Once all seated inside the theatre a video started playing through 2 LCD screens, which were projected by projectors in the two top corners of the stage and 2 TV monitors, which were placed in both corners down stage. It was quite cool how the music video continued to a live performance by the current music students.

Technical Elements that were included throughout the performance were vocal microphones wired and wireless, intelligent, parcans, fresnal and follow spot lighting, guitar amps, audio inputs and outputs, musical instruments, speakers, live HD video recorders that linked up to the LCD screens and TV monitors, which showed close ups and complemented the live performances.

The Showcase continued with live performances and in-between videos and information about each course: Digital Media and 3D Animation, Digital Film and Television, Audio Engineering and Sound Production, Entertainment Business Management and Popular Music and Performance.

After the Showcase we returned back to the foyer were gift packs full of information and goodies were distributed to all guests and prizes to selected schools. Overall a entertaining and informative excursion.

Completing First Aid :)

On Friday the 16th of September i attended a first aid course with the Entertainment, PDHPE and Hospitality classes at MSCW. It was a fantastic experience and i learn't a lot. There were a lot of physical components through out the day that we had to complete in order to achieve our first aid certificate. Tasks such as bandaging, practice scenarios and resuscitation on dummies were completed. At the end of the day we participated in an assessment which was the final step to get our Senior First Aid certificate. In order to pass we had to achieve an 80% pass mark and i achieved 97% :)
My Certificates are shown below:

Hunters Hill X Faktor

This year was the first Hunters Hill X Faktor, which is a talent competition with 4 participating schools around the Hunters Hill Area. They include Hunters Hill High, Riverside Girls, St Joseph's College and Marist Sisters, which was held at the Hunters Hill Town Hall on Friday the 16th of September. I was fortunate enough to be on the X Faktor committee along with Samantha Debs and Melanie Ray, and 3 other students from each school and 3 employees from Hunters Hill Council. I helped organise, promote and run the competition along with the other committee members. I had to arrange 3 junior performances and 3 senior performances to represent the school and compete against the other schools. The Junior performers included Chiara Cimilio, Nicole Debs and 4 Acrobatics Girls from Year 9. The Senior Performers included Stefanie Caccamo, The Year 11 Rock Band and The Senior Dance Ensemble. It ended up being a very tough competition as there were many talented performers from each school. However in the Senior Section The Senior Dance Ensemble came in Second place performing a dance to 'Show me how you Burlesque' choreographed by Isabella Giannasca and I and Stefanie Caccamo came in First place singing 'E.T' by Katy Perry and playing the piano. On Stage there were many flood lights, lasers, intelligent lights, parcans and also a follow spot. It was really interesting to see how the lighting technicians tested and worked the lights on the night.

Australian Film Television and Radio School

On Wednesday the 18th of May our Year 11 Entertainment class went on an excursion to 'The Australian Film Television and Radio School' which is also known as 'AFTRS'. It is located at Moore Park, Fox Studios, and is the only school in Australia that provides students with a variety of equipment. My class participated in the 'Camera Skills Workshop' taught by Gareth from 10am-1pm and then we were lucky enough to have a half an hour tour of the School. The Lady that took us on the tour showed us different sections of the school that were interesting. During the Workshop we learnt many new skills which included the 'Rule of Thirds', the short hand terms for camera angles and different techniques on how to make a story through pictures. We also did two activities in small groups to develop our knowledge of camera angles and shooting small scene. Overall it was a great day and i learnt a lot about the school and how to use a camera.
