OH&S Breaches:
The Welder is not wearing the correct Personal
Protective Equipment (PPE). For example his
arms are uncovered and no protective eyewear.

OH&S Breaches:
Load not carried safely. Man cannot see where
he is going; boxes are not secured into a
manageable bundle. As a result of these unsafe
work methods he is putting himself at risk of injury.

OH&S Breaches:
If the water spill is in a public place he would
present a possible dangerous situation for
other people. When cleaning (mopping) the floor
he should have a caution sign it let people around
him know that when wet it will be slippery.

OH&S Breaches:
By holding nails in his mouth this person is exposing
himself to a number of risks. More obvious ones might
be physical injury to the mouth, or a choking hazard.

OH&S Breaches:
Working at heights has potential to be a major cause of
injury in the workplace. Workers must be prevented from
falling, so our roof worker in this picture should be wearing
a harness and fall arrest equipment. The worker is also
hammering in nails, which presents possible injury from
flying objects so he should be wearing safety glasses.

OH&S Breaches:
This worker is using a heat generating machine
for some process. While the worker appears to
have correct safety lenses for the type of work he
is doing, he is at risk from being burnt on his
hands by contact with molten metal, sparks, or
handling hot work pieces.

OH&S Breaches:
Work conducted on electrical equipment wired into the electrical
supply requires that the person performing the work is
appropriately qualified. Unlike the person here, an electrician
would use insulated tools, and use an approved work platform.
They would also isolate the power supply and take other safety
precautions too. In the case of electrical work being conducted by
non qualified persons there are other legal implications which may
affect insurance of venues and persons.

OH&S Breaches:
The man isn’t wearing any PPE. Some paints when spilt
may present both a chemical and fire hazard. Appropriate
spill containment equipment should be on hand. Failure
to plan the work, have a risk assessment completed and
appropriate hazard reduction and containment measures
in place might expose workers and the public to an avoidable risk.
